Privacy policy

Effective 6 November 2026. Laugh Choir (laughchoir.pratikpoddar.in) is run by Tinkerer (Pratik Poddar), an individual developer, 76, Vrindavan Vihar, Ajmer Road, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302019, India. Contact: pratik.phodu@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Face cut-outs. When you add a singer, the photo is processed on your device: a face detector and background-removal model (Google MediaPipe, served from our site) find the head and cut it out in your browser. Only the cut-out head image (two sizes, 160 and 512 pixels) is uploaded. The original photo never leaves your device. We do not run face recognition and do not create biometric templates.
• Laugh recordings. The laugh you record (up to 8 seconds, mono audio).
• Choir details. Nicknames, costume choices, the occasion, song, title, the recipient's name and an optional short message.
• Payments. Checkout is handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; we never see card details. Dodo tells us the payment status, amount, currency and the buyer's email address, which we use to send the unlock email.
• Country. Our host (Netlify) tells our server the visitor's country from the IP address, used only to show the local price (₹299 in India, $9 elsewhere). The country is stored with an order.
• Abuse protection. A salted hash of your IP address is kept for up to 1 day for rate limiting, and with a report for up to 90 days.

We use no advertising, no analytics trackers and no cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps the private edit link of choirs you made on that device.

How we use it

Only to build and play your Laugh Choir video, run the invite and gift pages, process the purchase and answer support requests. We do not sell data, show it publicly (there is no gallery), or use photos or laughs to train AI models.

Who stores it (processors)

• Netlify, Inc. (USA): website hosting, server functions, and Netlify Blobs, where face cut-outs and laugh recordings are stored.
• Supabase (Postgres database hosted on AWS, us-east-1, USA): choir details, singer nicknames and costume choices, order records.
• Dodo Payments: checkout and payment processing (merchant of record).
• Resend: sending the unlock email and abuse-report notices.

How long we keep it

• Face cut-outs, laugh recordings and all choir details (including the gift page) are deleted automatically 30 days after the choir is created, by a daily job. The creator can remove a singer, or delete the whole choir, at any time before that.
• Order records: after 30 days we delete the buyer's email and the link to the choir, and keep only the amount, currency, country and date for accounting. Dodo Payments keeps its own records as merchant of record.
• Payment-webhook ids: 30 days. Rate-limit counters: 1 day. Reports: 90 days.

People in a choir

Whoever adds a singer confirms that the person agreed and is 13 or older. Laugh Choir is not for children under 13. If you appear in a choir without agreeing, use "Report this page" on the gift page or email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at pratik.phodu@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days (usually much sooner). Data is processed in the USA by the processors above.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the effective date.
